Conduct

Respectful interaction. We are all here to enjoy ourselves, and some playful banter is expected as part of the game. We do not tolerate harassment, bullying or targeting other players. Extreme toxicity is not accepted under any circumstances.

Doxing and witch-hunting. Doxing and witch-hunting are not accepted under any circumstances. Sharing somebody's real world details, or rallying people against them, will result in an immediate permanent ban.

Hate speech. Any form of hate speech, including racism, sexism or discrimination of any kind, is strictly prohibited and will result in an immediate permanent ban.

Staff impersonation. Do not claim to be a staff member. If you are obviously joking around we will ask you to stop, but anyone who keeps going, or who uses it to trick another player, will be permanently banned.

Gameplay

In-game names. In-game names must not be offensive, and must not be left as the default. You cannot join with the default name: the server will kick you automatically until you change it. That is not a ban, and you can join as soon as you have set a name of your own. Your name appears on the public leaderboard, so an offensive one is a conduct matter and is treated as one.

Cheating and hacking. The use of cheats, hacks or any third-party software that provides an unfair advantage is strictly forbidden. Offenders will face a permanent ban and will be reported to BattlEye.

Exploiting. Exploiting bugs or glitches for personal gain or advantage is prohibited. Players caught exploiting will first receive a temporary ban (the length will depend on the severity), followed by permanent bans for additional offences.

Combat logging. Logging out during combat to avoid losing gear or escaping situations is prohibited; play fair. If your game drops and you are back within a few minutes we will treat that as a disconnect. Any player found combat logging deliberately will receive a temporary ban, and a permanent one if it continues.

Alt accounts. Having more than one account is allowed, but using one to undo a death or to keep gear out of reach is not. Do not return to a fight on another character after dying in it, and do not use a second character as storage. A logged out character cannot be raided, so gear parked on one carries no risk at all, and risk is the point.

Ban evasion. Do not return to the server on another account while you are banned. Doing so will turn a temporary ban into a permanent one, and the account you returned on will be banned as well.

Meta gaming. Discussing meta information in the Discord is prohibited. This includes details such as recent in-game events or the locations of other players. You are permitted to use the Discord to team up with players in game; however, please discuss the meetup location in direct messages.

Arranged meetups. If you arrange to meet another player through the Discord, honour that arrangement. Betraying somebody you happened to run into in game is fair play and always will be; setting somebody up through the Discord is not.

Stream sniping. Do not have a player's stream open while playing on the same server. This could be a Twitch stream, or even watching a friend's stream in Discord while you play together. It gives you information you would not have from your own character's point of view.

Third-party VOIP. The use of third-party VOIP services like Discord and TeamSpeak is permitted; however, we encourage players to use in-game communication instead. This approach often leads to interesting situations and creates a more organic and immersive experience.

Compensation policy. Loss of items or progression is a part of DayZ; the game is inherently buggy. Therefore, we do not provide any form of compensation to any player for any reason. Good luck!

Reporting, bans and appeals

If you believe another player is breaking these rules, please open a ticket in the Discord rather than calling it out in game or in a public channel, and send us whatever evidence you have. Accusations made in public tend to be wrong as often as they are right, and they are unfair to the person on the other end either way.

Bans. Where a rule above states that a ban is permanent, it is permanent. For anything else, the length will depend on what happened and whether it appears deliberate.

A ban from the Discord also removes you from the server. If we cannot reach you about a rule break we cannot deal with it, so losing the Discord means losing the server as well. It does not work the other way around: a server ban leaves your Discord access intact, because that is where you appeal it.

We do not issue temporary bans from the Discord. Anything short of permanent is a timeout, which stops you posting but leaves you where we can still reach you. A Discord ban therefore only ever happens for offences that are permanent regardless, and it cannot be appealed.

Appeals. If you believe a ban was issued in error or is too harsh, please open a ticket in the Discord and we will review it. If you are not in the Discord, join it and open one there. Bans are measured against this page as it stood at the time.

If these rules change in a way that matters, we will announce it in the Discord rather than quietly editing this page.
